What’s your New Year’s resolution for 2021?

More gym time? Healthier eating? More family time? For me, it’s more prayer time.

The events of January 6, 2021, will go down in history as one of America’s darkest days as we watched in horror as domestic terrorists stormed the Capitol.

The angry mob far outnumbered security and the lives of our lawmakers, civil servants, and national leaders were heavily compromised.

What can we do amidst uncertainty, when miles removed and just an ordinary citizen or resident or even an international well-wisher? Pray. I believe God still hears and answers prayer.

Jesus’ disciples asked Him a great question one day. They asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Jesus said these famous words in Luke 11:2-4:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins,

For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one (NKJV).

It’s amazing to consider how relevant this prayer still is today. I am determined to pray through the uncertainties of this New Year. How about you?

Let’s take it to the Lord in prayer in 2021.
